A like count on YouTube is never read on its own. It is read against the view count. A video with 40,000 views and 30 likes tells a viewer that people watched and shrugged; the same video with 2,000 likes tells them it was worth their time. That ratio is the fastest trust signal on the platform, glanced at before a viewer commits ten minutes to you, and it is also one of the lightweight engagement signals YouTube weighs when deciding whether to keep recommending a video. Views get people to the door. Likes tell the next person whether to walk in.
On Instagram a like sits on its own. On YouTube it sits next to a public view count, so the question is never "how many likes" but "how many likes per view". A common rule of thumb among creators is roughly one like for every twenty to thirty views, and a video that drifts far below that looks unloved even when the content is good. This matters most in the first day or two, when YouTube is still testing the video on small batches of viewers and the ratio is being set by a few hundred people. Which videos benefit? Anything you are actively pushing: a launch, a tutorial you want to rank in search, a video you are running ads to, or an older piece that gets steady search traffic but has a thin like count. A video nobody is watching gains nothing from likes, because there is no view count for them to sit beside.
Be honest with yourself about the mechanism. Bought likes fix the ratio; they do not fix the video. If the thumbnail is weak nobody clicks in the first place, which is why the thumbnail patterns that lift click-through matter more than anything you buy from us. If the first thirty seconds lose people, retention will drag the video down regardless of how the like count looks. What likes do is remove the "nobody cared" signal so that a decent video gets judged on its content rather than on an empty counter. That is a real effect, and it is a limited one.
Working from that rule of thumb, aim for roughly one like for every twenty views the video already has, or is realistically going to reach. Buying more than that inverts the problem: a video with 3,000 views and 2,500 likes looks stranger than one with none.

Likes cheaper than ours are almost always bot likes from throwaway accounts. They land instantly, which is itself a giveaway, and YouTube's periodic clean-ups remove them, so the count you paid for evaporates. Other warning signs: a provider that asks for your Google login, one that promises delivery in seconds, and one with no refill policy at all. A refill guarantee only exists where the provider expects the likes to survive.
YouTube's fake engagement policy prohibits artificially inflating likes, views and subscribers, and its enforcement mechanism is removing engagement it identifies as automated. That is the grey area you are choosing to work in. It is also why the distinction between real accounts and bots is not marketing: automated likes are the ones that get stripped, and stripped likes are what draw attention to a video. Separately, the Partner Programme eligibility rules count subscribers and watch hours, not likes, so bought likes do not move you towards monetisation on their own; they are a credibility signal, nothing more.
